The Candles

Between Spaces makes two soy wax candles. This is why.

There's a particular quality to liminal moments — the morning before a decision, the week after a move, the space between who you were and who you're becoming. These aren't empty spaces. They're charged ones. Between Spaces was built for exactly this — and the candles are our most intentional expression of that idea.

A candle doesn't do anything. It doesn't solve a problem or optimize an outcome. What it does is mark a moment. You light it when you want to be present. You light it when the ordinary needs to feel deliberate. That's why we make them.

Named for what matters

Both of our candles take their names from words that cross cultural borders — words for concepts so universal they exist in multiple languages simultaneously.

Kismet (قسمت) means fate or destiny. You'll find it in Arabic, Urdu, Turkish, and Persian — a shared understanding across cultures that some moments are simply meant to be. We named our first candle for this because our founder's own path to building Between Spaces was anything but linear. It was, in hindsight, exactly what was meant to happen.

Integridad is the Spanish word for integrity — the practice of living in alignment with your values even when no one is watching. We named our second candle for this because the in-between moments are where character is built. Not in the milestones, but in the quiet, consistent choices that lead to them.

These aren't just product names. They're an invitation to bring intention to the ordinary.

How we make them

Every Between Spaces candle is hand-poured in small batches in New York City. We use 100% soy wax — not a soy blend, not a paraffin base — because soy burns cleaner, cooler, and longer than conventional wax. We use natural cotton wicks. No phthalates, no parabens, no synthetic dyes.

The average burn time is approximately 50 hours per candle. We designed them to last — not because we want you to buy fewer candles, but because a candle that burns too quickly doesn't have time to do its work.

The two scents

Kismet opens with bright bergamot — citrusy, fresh, slightly floral — and settles into clean mineral and musk tones with a warm amber and white tea base. It's a morning candle, a clarity candle, a new-chapter candle. Bergamot has long been associated with focus and uplift; in Kismet, it's paired with mineral notes that ground the brightness into something purposeful rather than fleeting.

Integridad smells like forest air after rain. Fresh balsam leads into crushed pine and eucalyptus, settling into a rich cedarwood and earth base. It's a grounding candle — the kind you light when you need to come home to yourself. Cedarwood is one of the oldest aromatic materials in human history, used across cultures for ceremony, meditation, and the marking of important moments.

Why candles

Between Spaces makes apparel too — hoodies, crewnecks, pieces designed to move with you. But the candles are different. A piece of clothing can go anywhere. A candle asks you to stop.

We make candles because the in-between deserves to be marked. Because you should be able to take a breath in the middle of your transition and notice it. The scent of Kismet or Integridad in the air is a reminder: this moment is real, and it matters.
